Fresh produce update.

Delays at ports are still causing disruption to imported items, leading to shortages and quality challenges. Avocados, and Courgettes are a particular problem.

Citrus fruits are problematic too, with the Lime harvest from Brazil delayed causing tight supply. Also, early season lemons from Spain are of inferior quality, which is affecting availability. These issues are seeing prices rise by approximately 13%.

Overall imported fresh produce prices are at a premium for the time of year due to the sustained inflationary pressures, with no sign of a softening of prices as we move into 2023.

Mushrooms are not as readily available as they normally are, with supply problems from Polish producers, exacerbated by businesses exiting the market, due to unsustainable production costs. This problem is expected to continue into the new year and will result in higher prices.

A good late harvest for UK seasonal products has ensured decent quality and availability across all products, and prices are expected to remain competitive throughout the season.
